India weather update: IMD issues rainfall alert over Delhi, J&K, Tamil Nadu and more – Check complete forecast

The dense fog-like conditions are expected to prevail in the morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on Wednesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rainfall alerts for multiple parts across the country which includes Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, east and west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada etc. It also predicted light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm activity over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe during the next five days.

Meanwhile, dense fog-like conditions are expected to prevail in the morning hours over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on Wednesday.

A look at weather conditions across few States and Union Territories:- 

  • Delhi: Delhi will experience partly cloudy sky on Wednesday with shallow fog in the morning. The very light rain or drizzle is likely to occur towards night. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 25 and 12 degrees Celsius respectively. On Tuesday, the maximum and minimum temperatures in the national capital were settled at 25 and 13.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
  • West Bengal and Sikkim: Kolkata will witness partly cloudy sky today with maximum and minimum temperatures to be around 29 and 20 degrees Celsius respectively. The dry weather will prevail over Sikkim and sub Himalayan West Bengal.

  • Tamil Nadu: The northeast monsoon has been active over the southern part of the state. The light to moderate rain at many places with thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places is likely to occur over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Pudukkottai, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Ramanathapuram and Thoothukudi districts of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
  • Andaman and Nicobar Islands: The isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall at most places with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Nicobar Islands. Strong wind speed reaching 25 to 35 kmph gusting to 45 45 kmph is also likely to prevail over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Andaman and Nicobar Islands on November 29. Thus, the sea condition will be rough. The Met office has advised the fishermen not to venture into the sea during the period.
