Darjeeling to Ghum: Indian Railways’ Special Diesel Joyride trains to make your journey worthwhile – Check fare, timings and more

This will also benefit the passengers as they will be able to board the popular ride from Darjeeling to nearby Ghum, a very well-known tourist sight.

Good news for travellers! Indian Railways is operating Special Diesel Joyride trains on Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) section. The move aims at catering the demand of the maximum number of tourists in the wake of the upcoming festive and winter season. This will also benefit the passengers as they will be able to board the popular ride from Darjeeling to nearby Ghum, a very well-known tourist sight.

In a statement, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone said, “To cater to the demand for the maximum number of tourists in the upcoming winter season, it has been decided to operate four Diesel Joyride Trains.” These trains will remain in service till January 05, 2024.

Distance, Frequency, Fare and Travel time of DHR Special Joyride trains:-

The DHR Special Diesel Joyride trains will cover a distance of 13 km in 45 minutes. These trains will operate seven days a week. The trains will have First Class compartments. One can travel on these trains at Rs 1000 only. The booking for these trains has already commenced.

02547 Darjeeling-Ghum-Darjeeling Special Diesel Joyride

  • Departure from Darjeeling – 09:20 hrs
  • Arrival at Ghum – 10:25 hrs

02548 Darjeeling-Ghum-Darjeeling Special Diesel Joyride

  • Departure from Darjeeling – 11:25 hrs
  • Arrival at Ghum – 12:10 hrs

02549 Darjeeling-Ghum-Darjeeling Special Diesel Joyride

  • Departure from Darjeeling – 13:25 hrs
  • Arrival at Ghum – 14:10 hrs

02550 Darjeeling-Ghum-Darjeeling Special Diesel Joyride

  • Departure from Darjeeling – 15:30 hrs
  • Arrival at Ghum – 16:15 hrs

Established in 1881, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway was granted “World Heritage” status by UNESCO in 1999. It is the second railway in the world to receive such recognition.
