How to transfer old WhatsApp chats from iOS to Android
- Get a cable that can connect your iPhone and your Android phone. Your Android phone should be new or reset and have Android 12 or above.
- Plug the cable into both phones and turn on your Android phone. Your iPhone will ask you to trust the “computer”. Tap “Trust” on the iPhone.
- Set up your Android phone and choose to copy data from your iPhone when asked.
- On your Android phone, you will see a screen with a QR code. Use your iPhone camera app to scan it and open WhatsApp on your iPhone to send data. If the QR code doesn’t work, go to WhatsApp on your iPhone and tap “Settings” > “Chats” > “Move Chats to Android” > “Start”.

WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature that will let users transfer their chat history to a new Android device by scanning a QR code. This will make the migration process faster and easier than using Google Drive backup. The feature is only available for some beta testers right now, but will be released for all Android users soon.
