Pixel 7 Pro: 5 reasons to buy

— As mentioned at the start, the Pixel phones are world famous for their photography and videography prowess, and with the release of the Pixel 7 Pro, Google took their smartphone camera game to another level. The Pixel 7 Pro features one of the most versatile cameras that you get on any phone right now. In fact, the Pixel phones have always been one of the best phones when it comes to clicking still photos. However, this time around, Google has also worked hard to improve the video recording capabilities of the Pixel 7 Pro, and as noted in my review, the effort shows. This generation around, I can easily say that the videos recorded on the Pixel 7 Pro can easily go head to head with the videos recorded on say a Galaxy S23 Ultra or even the iPhone 14 Pro. Overall, if the camera plays a big deciding factor while purchasing a brand-new high-end phone, you just can’t go wrong with the Pixel 7 Pro.

— Apart from the camera, the other thing Google phones are known for is their software experience. With the Pixel 7 Pro, you get stock Android 13 software at the helm. Google is also promising an additional 3 years of Android OS upgrades along with 4 years of security patch updates. This way, even when it comes to future-proofing, the Pixel 7 Pro has got you covered until Android 16. By the way, the Pixel phones are also always the first Android phones to receive the latest Android updates, because, of course, Google makes the Pixels. As for the software experience, if you are someone who doesn’t like unnecessary apps pre-installed on their phone. You are someone who likes to have a no-nonsense clean user interface. You prefer a fast and fluid user experience. In that case, nothing beats the speed of stock Android on the Pixel 7 Pro.

— What would you do with a good camera and software, if the display on the phone is subpar? Well, the Pixel 7 Pro has got you covered in this department as well. The phone has a large 6.7″ QHD+ AMOLED display upfront, that’s smooth and responsive, courtesy of the 120Hz refresh rate, and looks aesthetically appealing as well, because it is curved from the front and sports slim bezels. As for the multimedia experience, the display has ample brightness for both indoor and outdoor usage. The screen looks vibrant and watching content on the Pixel 7 Pro is a treat for the eyes. Not to forget, you get one of the best-sounding stereo speakers on this phone. Additionally, the front is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus.

— The Google Pixel 7 Pro is powered by the Tensor G2 SoC, which is an in-house chipset designed by Google. Performance-wise, the Pixel 7 Pro is a workhorse and is leaps and bounds better than its predecessor, the Pixel 6 Pro. In fact, one of the complaints about the Pixel 6 Pro was that the phone used to overheat, courtesy of the Tensor chip. But, with the Tensor G2 chip inside the Pixel 7 Pro, Google has seemed to fix that issue to a large extent. Additionally, the phone also gets a relatively large 5,000mAh under the hood, which easily used to last me a full day on a single charge with medium to heavy usage. And speaking of usage, of course, the Pixel 7 Pro can handle your usual day-to-day tasks, but the phone is also capable of running the most demanding of games available on the Google Play Store.

— Finally, the price! You see, considering the Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro sell for over a lakh rupees in the Indian market, the Pixel 7 Pro was always a steal at a price of Rs 84,999. However, what’s even better is that while Flipkart is still offering the Pixel 7 Pro for over Rs 80,000 in India; if you extend your search on Amazon, you can easily get a new Pixel 7 Pro for well under Rs 70,000. The best deal that I could spot was the obsidian colour, or the black colour of the phone, as it was retailing for Rs 68,999. That’s a solid drop of Rs 16,000 on the official price of the Pixel 7 Pro. Do note, the prices on Amazon keep fluctuating, so while you’re reading this, and if you have made up your mind about getting the Pixel 7 Pro, I’d suggest making a quick move.
