As per the Hindu calendar 2023, Darsha Amavasya is celebrated in the month of Phalguna. Phalguna month is considered the twelfth month of the Indian calendar. Usually, it occurs in the month of February/March as per the Gregorian calendar.
Amavasya is known as No-moon day, which occurs in the midst of the month. It is known as the day when bad power and negative energy are believed to be at their peak on Earth. On this day, people pay homage to their ancestors by performing Shraddha and tarpan. Darsha Amavasya falls in Phalguna month, on the occasion of Krishna Amavasya.

Darsha Amavasya has significance as it has a strong association with wealth, well-being, and blessings.
People who observe this day with austerity are believed to get rid of any kind of health disorders.
According to astrological beliefs, this day is a spiritual day that cleanses the Pitru Dosha(wrongdoings) of the ancestors.
DARSHA AMAVASYA 2023: RITUALS
Devotees take a sacred bath and practice morning rituals.
Following that, they perform shraddha rites and tarpan for the departed forefathers and ancestors.
Generally, the rituals are done on the banks of sacred rivers, at temples, or in people’s homes.
The priest also performs various rites to the departed ancestors for their salvation and tranquility.
The shraddha rites include the lighting of Diyas and the offering of flowers.
Pind dan and tarpan are done to get divine forebears’ blessings.
Upon the completion of the rites, special meals, food, clothing, and donations are presented to the Brahmins.
