After the grand success of Jr NTR and Ram Charan-starrer RRR, SS Rajamouli has finally confirmed that the sequel of the film is on cards. He said that he has discussed RRR 2 with his father, who writes most of his scripts and he is working on the story.
SS Rajamouli confirms RRR 2
The ace filmmaker made the announcement at an international event. “My father is story writer for all my films. We discussed a bit about ‘RRR 2’ and he’s working on the story,” Rajamouli said at an event in Chicago.
Rajamouli had earlier as well dropped a hint that a sequel might be made.
He said that while Jr NTR and Ram Charan got out of the headspace quite soon, he was still trying to “cool off from the heat which the movie generated”.
He then added, “Let it cool down. Of course, for me it would be a great pleasure, not because of what it’ll do at the box office, but because I will have more time to spend with my brothers. That’ll be more exciting for me. But let time unravel what we have.”
Jr NTR and Ram Charan on RRR 2
Jr NTR had also expressed his wish for RRR 2. He said, “Rajamouli sir needs to make RRR 2. There needs to be a conclusion to this story. I was just talking to someone earlier today and I don’t know why I said it, but I said RRR is a franchise. Hopefully, those words will come true.”
To this Ram Charan added, “NTR first let the release of RRR conclude, then think about the sequel. Of course, we will all be delighted to work together again if Rajamouli sir thinks of making RRR 2. I hope your wish comes true brother.”
RRR, which is currently running in the race to bag an Oscar nomination, has so far collected Rs 1,200 crores at the box office worldwide.
Set in pre-independence India, RRR is a fictional take on the younger days of celebrated freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR.
