If you’re ever worried about losing access to your WhatsApp account, we have a list of few steps for you that might help.
For perspective, WhatsApp can ban accounts on various grounds. It uses spam spam detection technology to take action against accounts that might be engaging in abnormal behaviour.
In the month of August alone, about 2.3 million Indian accounts were banned on WhatsApp. The company released a list of six pointers to keep in mind to avoid getting banned.
1. Forwarded messages can get you banned
On WhatsApp, all forwarded messages carry a label. In addition, it has put a limit on the number of times each message may be forwarded. If you’re about to forward an unverified message, stop and rethink. It’s very easy to hit forward.
2. Stay clear of automated/bulk messages
If you’re sending bulk messages on WhatsApp, you might get banned. WhatsApp also suggests not using auto-message or auto-dial on the platform, but these will be spotted by machine learning.
3. Don’t broadcast everything
If you use broadcast lists to send out messages, people might begin reporting your account for spam. Based on multiple reports, WhatsApp might ban your account. It’s best to not spam your contacts!
4. Don’t add people to groups randomly
It’s best to ask someone before adding them to a group on WhatsApp. If people remove themselves from a group you’ve created, it’s best to let it go. “If a contact asks you to stop messaging them, you should remove the contact from your address book and refrain from contacting them again,” WhatsApp wrote in a press release.
5. Message only known contacts
To always be on the safe side of WhatsApp, message known contacts.
6. Keep up with terms of services
If you’re found to be spreading any type of fake news and engaging in illegal and defamatory behaviour, WhatsApp can ban your account.
Think your account got banned by mistake? You can email WhatsApp to review the ban.
