Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, which was one of the most anticipated films of the year, bombed at the box office. The film was unable even to cross Rs 100-crore mark at the ticket window. However, the film’s response on the OTT platform Netflix is totally different from its box office collection. Yes, you read it right!
Ever since the release of Laal Singh Chaddha on Netflix, the audience is appreciating the film and it has, in fact, racked up impressive viewing figures, as well. According to the online streaming giant, the film has become number 1 on Netflix in India and the number 2 non-English film on Netflix globally.
As per the data received from Netflix, Aamir Khan’s film has been watched for 6.63 million hours ever since it began streaming on the platform. Interestingly, not just in India, the film has also been popular in many overseas territories.
According to Netflix, the film featured in the top 10 in films in 13 countries across the world including Bangladesh, Singapore, Oman, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Malaysia, Mauritius, and UAE.
Laal Singh Chaddha has racked up bigger on OTT and a large section of viewers have praised the film after watching it on Netflix. In fact, many wondered why it failed in the first place.
Many even shared the last scene on Twitter and praised Aamir for pulling off the scene effortlessly. One user tweeted, “Despite of the verdict of the movie, this one scene from Laal Singh Chaddha is so special; hats off to Aamir Khan for pulling it off.” Many were even impressed with Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo in the film.
Laal Singh Chaddha is the Hindi adaptation of the Oscar-winning classic Forrest Grump, which released in theatres on August 11. The film earned around Rs 88 crore gross worldwide at the box office. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film also stars Naga Chaitanya, and Manav Vij.
