Well, we often make reservations for trains together if we travel with families and friends. But sometimes we have to cancel our tickets due to a change in plans. While cancelling a single ticket is easier, we often find ourselves in doubt when we have to do a partial cancellation- if you have done a booking of 3-4 seats and want to cancel one or two seats.

How? For partial cancellation of e-tickets, you have to log into the IRCTC e-ticketing website. The IRCTC website provides the facility to cancel the confirmed Indian Railways train ticket till the time the chart is prepared. However, it should be noted that the cancellation of e-tickets is not allowed at the railway ticket counters.
So, If you want to cancel your ticket, here is the step-by-step guide to cancel a reservation of just one person’s IRCTC e-ticket.
— Open and login to the IRCTC e-Ticketing website by entering the correct Username and Password on the Login screen.
— Now to cancel the particular e-ticket, go to “My Transactions.”
— Now Click on the “Booked Ticket History” link under the My Account menu.
— You will see your booked tickets in the section. Now select the ticket to be cancelled and click on “Cancel Ticket.”

— Initiate the cancellation by selecting the name of passengers whose tickets are to be cancelled.
— Now Select the check box before the passenger’s name and click on the “Cancel Ticket” button.
— Click OK on the Confirmation pop to confirm the cancellation.
— After the cancellation is successful cancellation amount will be deducted and ticket money will be refunded to your account.
— You will also get a confirmation SMS and email of the cancellation on your registered mobile number and email.
Note: In case of partial cancellation, you should get a fresh printout of the ERS — Electronic Reservation Slip for the passengers continuing their journey.
