The Covid scare is once again back in Delhi with a spike in active cases and the rate of hospitalisation, which has doubled from 3.23 per cent on August 1 to 6.23 per cent on August 17. Delhi reported the highest positivity rate at 19.20 per cent. Active cases have seen a rise from 4,274 on August 1 to 6,809 on August 17.

Dr Suresh Kumar, Medical Director of LNJP Hospital said, “Hospitalisation has increased in LNJP in the last 10 days. The LNJP Hospital study shows the new variant is the reason for the spread of the virus,” adding that most of the patients being infected have not taken their second dose or the booster shot.
In view of a spike in cases, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia urged the public to get their booster shots and said that patients who have availed of their booster doses are safer than ones with two jabs.
90 per cent of corona coronavirus patients admitted to the hospital are those patients who have taken only two doses of the vaccine. At the same time, only 10 per cent of the patients got coronavirus infection after the third dose of the vaccine. It is clear that people who apply the precautionary doses are safer from corona infection,” Sisodia said.
