The government has issued another deadline for linking PAN and Aadhaar and has directed PAN card and Aadhaar card holders to link both their documents before this last date. If you are unable to do so, then your PAN card can be closed. If you have not done this work yet, then complete it as soon as possible.
If you do not link PAN and Aadhaar even by this new deadline, then your PAN card will be deactivated. This means that you will not be able to use it in any financial transaction. Linking PAN and Aadhaar is very easy. You can do it both online and offline. For online linking, you have to go to the Income Tax Department website and follow the instructions given there.

What is the last date for linking?
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued a new notice, according to which it is mandatory for certain Permanent Account Number (PAN) holders to link their PAN with Aadhaar by December 31, 2025. This applies specifically to those who have their PAN card made using their Aadhaar enrollment ID instead of their actual Aadhaar number.

How much will be the late fee?
After the December 31 deadline, linking PAN with an Aadhaar card will attract a late fee of ₹ 1,000. This also includes cases where PAN and Aadhaar IDs exist but are not linked. Apart from this, those who have not linked their PAN and Aadhaar are at risk of their PAN being deactivated.

PAN and Aadhaar can be linked both online and offline:
Let us tell you that PAN and Aadhaar can be linked online through the Income Tax Department website. PAN and Aadhaar can also be linked offline, for this you will have to visit the service center of the PAN service provider, NSDL, or UTIITSL. For this, you will have to fill the ‘Annexure-I’ form and take along some supporting documents like a copy of the PAN card and Aadhaar card.
