Uber Technologies, the American multinational transportation company that provides ride hailing services in more than 70 countries, has officially launched its ‘Uber for Teens’ in India. It has now been launched across 37 cities in the country, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad,Jaipur,Kochi and Lucknow.

The company claims that its product is “ designed to provide safe, reliable, and convenient transportation solutions specifically tailored for teenagers in India aged between 13 and 17 years of age.”
The service comes with a set of strict safety protocols, including GPS tracking, real-time ride tracking, and an in-app emergency button.
What is Uber for Teens?
Uber for Teens allows parents to set up accounts for their 13 to 17-year-olds to ride independently with safety features. Parents can track rides in real-time, receive notifications, and ensure that only highly rated drivers handle teen trips. A PIN verification system confirms the right driver. Some regions offer ride recording for added security. Teens can contact emergency services through the app. Managed through a family profile, it ensures safe, supervised travel while giving teens independence.
How to book a ride: Step-by-step guide
a. Parents with a verified Uber account can invite their teen to join the app.
b. The teen will need to set up their account by adding their parents as a guardian.
c. The teen can start requesting rides after setting up the account.
d. Guardians will receive notifications regarding the rides on their app as well
e. Guardians also have the option to request rides on behalf of their teens, which will also reflect on the teen’s account
