Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: The much-awaited Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Namma Metro is expected to commence by the end of June or early July this year. The Yellow Line, which will provide crucial connectivity to the tech hub of Electronic City, has seen long delays so far, Times Now reported.
Currently, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is involved in getting regulatory approvals and conducting final tests on the route. Once operational, the line will not only provide ease of travelling in the city but also reduce the traffic strain on the tech city.
According to a senior BMRCL official, the project is now nearing completion. “We have received two trains and are currently undergoing regulatory approvals, including oscillation trials and signalling tests.”
Once these are completed, the official added, they will seek CMRS (Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety) approval, which is expected by the end of April.
Moreover, the BMRCL is expected to get the third train by the end of April as the team is heading to Kolkata to ensure the final follow-ups.

The BMRCL is optimistic about the completion of the final preparation on schedule. The BMRCL official added, “If the outfitting is completed as planned, we will have three trains ready, and subject to regulatory approvals, commercial operations could commence by June-end or July for the 19.15 km Yellow Line stretch from RV Road to Bommasandra.”
Yellow Line feature
It must be noted that the Yellow Line trains are built by China’s CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co, Ltd as part of a contract worth Rs 1,578 crore, signed in 2019. The prototype trains are built in China, while the remaining ones are being built in Teetagarh Rail Systems Limited in West Bengal.
A total of 36 trains with 216 coaches are being supplied to the metro operator. Out of these, 15 trains are allocated to the Yellow Line. The remaining will be used in the services of the Green and Purple Lines.
