With this win against Kolkata, Mumbai exceeded KKR’s nine victories over the Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens.

Kolkata will have a golden opportunity of equalling Mumbai’s record, when they take on Punjab at home on Saturday, April 26.

Mumbai feature twice more in this elite list as well, having defeated the Royal Challengers Bengaluru eight times each at the Wankhede Stadium and the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Chennai Super Kings have also defeated Bengaluru eight times at home, but they missed out on equalling Kolkata’s record against Punjab after their 50-run defeat last week.

It was the 24th victory over Kolkata for Mumbai as well, extending their record of most wins against a franchise in the Indian Premier League.

In this elite list, Mumbai are followed by Chennai and Kolkata, who have registered 21 victories each over Bengaluru and Punjab respectively.

Kolkata have also beaten RCB 20 times in the tournament, and they can equal their record against PBKS when they take on Bengaluru again on May 17.

Ashwani Kumar‘s record four-fer on Indian Premier League debut and Ryan Rickelton’s unbeaten 62 powered Mumbai to a commanding eight-wicket victory over Kolkata.

The 23-year-old Ashwani from Punjab’s Jhanjeri became the first Indian ever to take four wickets on Indian Premier League debut as he ended with figures of 3-0-24-4 to blow away Kolkata’s star-studded batting lineup.

With just four senior T20s in his kitty, apart from four List A matches and two Ranji Trophy games, Ashwani’s rich returns heralded the domination shown by Mumbai’s pacers as Kolkata couldn’t stand the blows at all.

Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult and Pandya ensured a collective bowling performance as Kolkata crumbled for the lowest total of IPL 2025, rolling over for a paltry 116 in the 17th over.

Even as Rohit Sharma endured another forgettable outing, Ryan Rickelton made his first impact on the Indian Premier League stage as Mumbai went over the line with eight overs to spare.
