Toll charges on the 119-km Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway will also increase from 1st April by Rs 5 to Rs 10, depending on the vehicle type.
Starting April 1, commuters travelling to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) via Bellary Road, as well as those using the Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) and the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, will have to pay higher toll charges.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a hike of 3 to 5 per cent in toll fees across these routes, as per The Indian Express.
Toll Charges at Sadahalli Plaza Near KIA
The Sadahalli toll plaza, which is used by thousands of vehicles daily on the way to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), will see an increase in toll charges:
- Cars: Rs 120 for a single trip (up from Rs 115), Rs 180 for a return journey (up from Rs 170).
- Light Commercial Vehicles & Mini Buses: Rs 185 for a single trip, Rs 275 for a return journey.
- Trucks & Full-sized Buses: Rs 370 for a single trip (₹15 increase), Rs 550 for a return journey (Rs 15 increase).
- Monthly Pass for Cars (50 trips): Now priced at Rs 3,970.
The Sadahalli toll plaza recorded its highest-ever revenue of Rs 308 crore in 2023-24. Over the past decade, it has collected a massive Rs 1,577 crore, making it Karnataka’s highest-earning toll plaza.
Toll Hike on STRR (Satellite Town Ring Road)
Motorists using the STRR, which links Dabaspet to Hoskote, will also see higher toll rates at the Nallur-Devanahalli and Hulikunte toll plazas:
- Cars & LCVs: Rs 5 increase for a single journey, Rs 10 for a return trip.
- Buses: Rs 10 increase for a single trip, Rs 20 for a return.
- Monthly Car Pass: Rs 2,815 at Nallur-Devanahalli, Rs 3,615 at Hulikunte.
- Local pass: Unchanged at Rs 350.
The STRR is part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana project and connects Bengaluru with the Chennai Expressway at Hoskote.
Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway Toll Hike
The Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway toll rates will also rise from April 1, with an increase ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 10 depending on the vehicle type.
NHAI officials have also hinted at a proposal to introduce toll booths at various entry and exit points, allowing motorists to pay based on the distance travelled.
Why the Hike?
The 3-5 percent toll increase is part of an annual revision across India’s national highways. Similar hikes are also expected on Tumkur Road and the Bengaluru-Kolar Highway in the near future.
