8th Pay Commission Pay Hike, 7th Pay Commission, 6th Pay Commission, 5th Pay Commission, 4th Pay Commission: Once every 10 years, a Pay Commission is a carnival of expectations for government employees across India.
Central and state government employees keenly wait for a decent jump in their salaries.
A hike that will boost their pay up to a level where they can catch up with the rising inflation; that can help them meet many of their financial goals; and which helps them keep pace with their private job counterparts.
Every decade, they aspire to get a significant jump. In the 7th Pay Commission, the basic salary rise was by 2.57 times.
As the 8th Pay Commission is about to be established, government employees expect at least a similar jump.
But going by the historical salary jump in the last 40 years, what have been the salary jumps in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th Pay Commissions?
