The initiative is progressing rapidly at the headquarters level, and if all goes as planned, seven buses will soon operate from Ayodhya to Nepal. This move is expected to strengthen ties between the two nations while providing convenient travel options for tourists, devotees, and pilgrims.

In January 2020, the Maitri Bus Service was introduced between India and Nepal but was discontinued shortly after, with no further developments. Now, after five years, efforts are being made to revive this cross-border connectivity.

Key Routes:

Unlike previous regional agreements, this time, the bus service between India and Nepal will be established directly at the headquarters level. Chief Manager of Operations, Ankur Vikas, has sought a formal proposal from the Regional Manager of Ayodhya regarding this initiative. The plan is being developed based on the 2011 India-Nepal bus service agreement, ensuring a structured and sustainable implementation.

“This time, the plan is to operate ordinary service buses to Nepal. A proposal has been prepared and sent to the headquarters. The buses from Ayodhya to Nepal will also connect major religious destinations like Prayagraj and Varanasi,” news agency ANI quoted Vimal Rajan, Regional Manager, Ayodhya Transport Corporation.
