A.R. Rahman has been hospitalised in Chennai due to neck pain.
Music composer A.R. Rahman has been admitted to a private hospital on Greams Road, Chennai, after suddenly experiencing neck pain. The renowned and Oscar-winning composer is currently under medical care at the Apollo Hospital, where he is being closely monitored by doctors. He is expected to be discharged by noon. Sources reveal that he experienced neck pain and went for a check-up after returning from abroad. More details on his condition are awaited.

This comes just weeks after AR Rahman’s ex-wife, Saira Banu, was also hospitalised following a medical emergency. She is said to have undergone surgery. Saira has since provided a health update through a statement issued by her legal counsel, Vandana Shah.
In her statement, Saira Rahman thanked A.R. Rahman and others for their support. She said, “A few days ago Mrs.Saira Rahman was hospitalised due to a medical emergency and underwent surgery. During this challenging time, her sole focus is on a speedy recovery. She deeply appreciates the concern and support from those around her and requests prayers for her well-being from her numerous well-wishers and supporters.”
The statement further read, “Mrs.Saira Rahman would also like to express her heartfelt gratitude to her friends from Los Angeles, Resul Pookutty and his wife Shadia,as well as Vandana Shah and Mr. Rahman, for their unwavering support during this difficult time. She is truly grateful for their kindness and encouragement. God bless.”
AR Rahman and Saira Banu tied the knot in 1995. They have three children together – two daughters, Khatija and Rahima, and a son named Ameen Rahman. However, the couple announced their separation in November 2024 via a joint statement.
