All is well between Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and lyricist Javed Akhtar. The two posed happily for a picture together, and the actress announced that they have resolved their defamation case through mediation. In her post, she was all praise for Javed Akhtar, and even mentioned that he has agreed to write songs for her next directorial project. They seem to have moved on from the legal conflict, with both parties settling their differences amicably. For the unversed, their legal battle began in 2020, after the lyricist filed a complaint claiming Ranaut had made defamatory statements against him in a television interview, which allegedly damaged his reputation.

Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram stories to share a photo with Javed Akhtar, and they are all smiles in the picture that seems to have been clicked after resolving their legal matter through mutual understanding. The actress wrote that their legal battle has come to an end, and praised Javed Akhtar for being kind and gracious during the process. She wrote, “Today Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation, in the mediation Javed ji has been very kind and gracious, he also agreed to write songs for my next directorial.” Check out her Instagram story below!

What Was Kangana Ranaut And Javed Akhtar’s Legal Matter About?
In 2020, Kangana appeared for an interview on a news channel, after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Among other statements, she claimed that Akhtar asked her to apologize to co-star Hrithik Roshan, who had filed a lawsuit against her in 2016, seeking an apology post public spat over a statement on their alleged relationship.

“Once Javed Akhtar called me to his house and told me Rakesh Roshan (father of Hrithik Roshan) and his family are very big people. If you don’t apologise to them, you will have nowhere to go. They will put you in jail, and eventually, the only path would be that of destruction… you will commit suicide. These were his words. He shouted and yelled at me. I was shaking in his house,” Kangana had said, in 2020.
Javed Akhtar filed a complaint, claiming Ranaut had made defamatory statements against him in the television interview, which allegedly damaged his reputation. He told the court whatever Kangana had said in the interview was a lie. He alleged the ‘Queen’ actress had dragged his name during the interview while referring to a ‘coterie’ existing in Bollywood.
Kangana later filed a counter-complaint in the same court against Akhtar for alleged “extortion and criminal intimidation”. Ranaut, in her complaint, claimed that following her public dispute with a co-star, the lyricist had called her and her sister Rangoli Chandel to his house with “malafide intentions and ulterior motives and then criminally intimidated and threatened” her. Over the last 4 years, the case saw multiple hearings, and garnered significant media attention.
