Kedarnath Dham To Open On May 2 For Pilgrimage; Bhairavnath Worship On April 27 | Check Full schedule

Uttarakhand News: The portals of the Shri Kedarnath Dham, the eleventh Jyotirlinga, will open on May 2 at 7 AM, marking the start of the annual pilgrimage. The auspicious occasion follows a series of rituals, including the worship of Lord Bhairavnath ji on April 27. On April 28, the Panch Mukhi Doli of Baba Kedar will depart from the Shri Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, making its way to Kedarnath Dham ahead of the opening.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his excitement over the opening of the doors and stated the importance of thorough preparations for the growing number of devotees. In his statement, he assured that the government has already reviewed last year’s pilgrimage and made necessary arrangements. “The pilgrimage will begin on May 2, and we have prepared well to ensure a smooth experience for all the devotees,” he said. He also urged all departments involved to complete the necessary tasks swiftly, ensuring a successful pilgrimage season.

The opening ceremony will take place in the Baishakh month, according to the Hindu lunar calendar. This year’s opening will follow the customary rituals, ensuring that the temple doors are opened in the most auspicious manner. Devotees from across the region are eagerly awaiting the momentous event and the rituals for Lord Bhairavnath ji’s worship and the departure of the Panch Mukhi Doli have been scheduled as per tradition.

In addition to the formal announcements, the Shri Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, where the ceremony took place, was elaborately decorated and the occasion was marked by bhajans and kirtans. Hundreds of devotees gathered at the temple for darshan and prasad was distributed to all. The event, which also saw the announcement of the Panch Mukhi Doli’s departure, filled the air with excitement and devotion.

Vijay Prasad Thapliyal, CEO of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, confirmed the details of the departure of the Panch Mukhi Doli and reiterated the commitment to making the pilgrimage a grand success.
