Purnima January 2025: Rituals
Paush Purnima begins with a sacred bath at sunrise in holy rivers. Devotees offer prayers to the rising sun and perform other religious rituals. After the bath, they worship the Shiv lingam with water and spend time in meditation. This spiritual practice helps them connect with the divine and seek blessings.
On this day, devotees also observe the Satyanarayana vratam, worshipping Lord Vishnu with devotion. They fast, recite the Satyanarayana katha and offer special prasad to the lord. The day concludes with an aarti, followed by the distribution of prasad among all. Additionally, temples of Lord Krishna across India celebrate the special Pushyabhishek Yatra, while lectures on the Ramayana and Bhagwad Gita are also organised.
