Western Himalayan Region
The presence of an active western disturbance on January 6 is projected to result in heavy snowfall and downpours in Himachal Pradesh. Light to moderate showers are likely to occur across Jammu-Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Baltistan, Gilgit, and Himachal Pradesh for the same period. The intensity of rains may disrupt travel at higher altitudes because of heavy snowfall accumulation.
Weather Update for Northeast Region
The Met Department has warned that moderate rains are likely to take place at several locations in the Northeastern states on January 7 and 8. Though the intensity of the rains would not be severe it is likely to lead to variations in humidity and temperatures.

Weather Forecast for Northwest India
A new western disturbance is expected to impact Northwest India from January 10 to January 12. Under its impact, light to moderate precipitation along with snowfall are expected across the Western Himalayan region. Moreover, light showers may be experienced in the plains of Northwest India. These weather conditions might extend the cold and wet weather pattern across northern parts of the country.
Dense Fog alert
According to the latest weather bulletin, dense fog is projected to continue over parts of North India specifically during the late night and early morning hours till January 9. This will affect the visibility, especially for those who are planning to travel by road and air. Regions that will be affected are Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab from January 6 to 8, and isolated pockets of these regions from January 6 to January 9. Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan from January 6 to January 8, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Sikkim on January 6. Northeastern regions like Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Assam, and Nagaland will also have similar weather conditions.
