Swiggy, the leading food delivery giant, has recently announced an exciting job opening for the position of ‘Gifting Curator’. The company is looking for a creative and highly skilled individual to design and curate premium gift collections, catering to both Indian and global markets. The announcement has sparked a lot of interest, particularly on social media, where Shivangi Srivastava, the Assistant Vice President of New Initiatives at Swiggy, shared the job details.

In her post on X (formerly Twitter), Srivastava wrote: “Here is a very interesting job description which we are hiring for at Swiggy. Looking to onboard a gifting curator with the ability to curate high-end gift products in India and worldwide. We’re looking for someone with exceptional taste and aesthetic sensibility. Please DM.”

Key Responsibilities and How to Apply:

As mentioned in the post, the ‘Gifting Curator’ will be responsible for creating a range of premium gift products, which will be made available to customers in both Indian and international markets. This role requires an individual with an eye for detail and a strong sense of aesthetics. :

Swiggy has not shared any formal application link or detailed process, but interested candidates can reach out to Srivastava directly via direct message on X for more information. The company is clearly on the lookout for someone with “exceptional taste and aesthetic sensibility,” as mentioned in the job description.

The post has garnered significant attention on X, with some users noting the similarities to Zomato’s recent hiring announcement. Kshitij Kulshreshtha, a user on the platform, humorously commented, “After reading the first line I thought Swiggy is hiring a chief of staff as well.” This reference to Zomato’s earlier search for a Chief of Staff, which included the unusual condition of the first year being unpaid, added a layer of intrigue to Swiggy’s job opening.

A Nod to Zomato’s Unorthodox Hiring

In November, Zomato co-founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal had announced his search for a chief of staff to assist in managing the company. The role, however, came with unconventional conditions, sparking curiosity and debate.

“I am looking for a chief of staff for myself,” Goyal shared on X. “However, this role is not a conventional role with the usual perks that such jobs come with. In fact, we are making this job unattractive for most people. There is no salary for this role for the first year. You will have to, in fact, pay Rs 20 lakh for this opportunity. 100 percent of this ‘fee’ will be paid in the form of a donation directly to Feeding India.”

To demonstrate its commitment to philanthropy, Zomato pledged to contribute Rs 50 lakh — the equivalent of a chief of staff’s annual salary — to a charity selected by the employee.

“Second year onwards, we will start paying you the usual salary (definitely more than Rs 50 lakh, but something we will only talk about at the start of Year 2),” Goyal added.

While both roles cater to vastly different needs, they underline the creative hiring strategies adopted by companies to attract unique talent.
