Redmi 14C 5G announced, coming to India on January 6: This is what it looks like

Xiaomi is looking ahead at a busy January 2025. The company has already announced the Xiaomi Pad 7 is coming to India on January 10.

Xiaomi has announced its new budget phone, Redmi 14C 5G, will make its global debut in India on January 6, 2025. The first look of the smartphone has been revealed confirming a design scheme like the Redmi 14C 4G variant which was launched in China in September this year. It comes in a choice of three colours including black, purple, and blue. The design reveal confirms a couple of hardware choices. The Redmi 14C 5G has a waterdrop-style notch on the front and a 50-megapixel primary camera on the back.

Redmi 14C 5G India launch: Design, specs (expected)

The Redmi 14C 5G is a sequel to the Redmi 13C 5G from late 2023. The Redmi 13C 5G shared a lot of the hardware with the Redmi 13C 4G launched alongside. The Redmi 14C 5G could end up sharing a lot of the hardware with the Redmi 14C 4G as well. In which case, we’re looking at a 6.88-inch 720p display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Xiaomi HyperOS with Android 14, and a 5,160mAh battery with 18W fast charging.

Xiaomi claims the Redmi 13C 5G was a huge hit among budget-conscious buyers making 5G connectivity more accessible to the masses. It had the MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus processor under the hood and came at a starting price of Rs 10,999. Xiaomi followed it up with an even more affordable 5G phone—the Redmi A4 5G—this year making 5G available at a base price of Rs 8,499. It was the first smartphone with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 4S Gen 2 chip.

The Redmi 14C 5G (and 4G) borrows much of the design from the Redmi A4 5G. Speculation is rife that it could be based on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 platform but since Xiaomi is yet to reveal the detail(s), it is advised to take this information with a grain of salt.

Xiaomi is looking ahead at a busy January 2025. The company has already announced the Xiaomi Pad 7 is coming to India on January 10, just four days after the Redmi 14C 5G breaks cover. It would be interesting to see what more surprises Xiaomi has in store as the world rings into the New Year 2025.
