Farmers under the banner of SKM (non-political) and KMM have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana since February 13, 2024. During that time, security personnel had stopped their march to Delhi there.

The batch of 101 farmers has already made three attempts to enter Delhi on foot on December 6, December 8, and then December 14. They were not allowed to proceed further by security personnel in Haryana.

On the other hand, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal (70) has been on a hunger strike at the Khanauri border since November 26 to pressurize the Center to accept the demands of the farmers, including a legal guarantee for the minimum support price (MSP).

Amid Dallewal’s deteriorating health, a delegation of Punjab’s ruling AAP on Wednesday met the farmer leader at the Khanauri protest site and urged him to seek medical treatment, saying his health is important.
