Registration begins for Delhi Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana: Check who is eligible, who is not eligible, and other details here

The registration for the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana, a scheme which will provide monthly assistance of Rs 1,000 to women residents, began today. The Delhi government had announced this scheme in its 2024-25 budget to provide Rs 1,000 per month to all women aged above 18, news agency Press Trust of India reported on Sunday. However, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal recently said that the amount under the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana would be increased to Rs 2,100 if his party returns to power in the assembly elections, which are due in February next year.

The beneficiaries will need to show their voter identity cards, and all eligible women voters in Delhi will receive the benefits, Kejriwal said.

Eligibility criteria for Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana

The eligibility criteria for Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana is as follows:

  • A woman resident of Delhi and having a voter ID with Delhi address
  • Should be between the ages of 18 and above on December 12, 2024 (date of notifying the scheme)

In essence, women between ages of 18 and 60 are most likely to be beneficiaries of this scheme.

Who is not eligible for Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana?

According to the cabinet’s decision, all women who are residents of Delhi as of Dec 12, 2024, and are registered voters, will be eligible for the benefits of the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana. However, certain categories of women are not eligible to avail the monthly financial assistance. These include current or former permanent government employees. Women who are or were MPs, MLAs, or councillors and who paid income tax in the previous assessment cycle are also not included. Additionally, women already receiving pensions under schemes of the Delhi government, such as old-age pensions, widow pensions, or disability pensions, are also not eligible for benefits under the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana.
