Public Holiday List 2025: Schools, Offices, and Banks to Stay Closed for These Many Days

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced the official list of public holidays for schools, offices, and banks for the year 2025. The list includes 24 general holidays and 31 restricted holidays. Out of these 24 general holidays, 14 fall on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), meaning government employees will not be eligible for additional leave on those days. Here’s a breakdown of the holidays:

  • 26 January – Republic Day (Saturday)
  • 29 March – Holi (Saturday)
  • 14 April – Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti (Monday)
  • 1 May – Labor Day (Thursday)
  • 15 August – Independence Day (Friday)
  • 22 August – Eid-ul-Azha (Friday)
  • 2 October – Gandhi Jayanti (Thursday)
  • 23 October – Dussehra (Thursday)
  • 12 November – Diwali (Wednesday)
  • 13 November – Govardhan Puja (Thursday)
  • 14 November – Children’s Day (Friday)
  • 25 December – Christmas (Thursday)
  • 31 December – New Year’s Eve (Wednesday)

Restricted holidays are optional, meaning schools or offices can choose whether or not to observe them. These holidays are related to various cultural, historical, and religious events.
