Aadhaar card free online update offer extended – Check new deadline and steps to update name, address

Individuals looking to update their Aadhaar details now have until June 14 to do so, following an extension from the original deadline of December 14. 
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the body responsible for issuing Aadhaar, has extended the free online document upload facility until June 14, 2025, providing relief to millions of Aadhaar holders. The deadline for this free service was initially set for June 14, 2024, then extended to September 14, 2024, and once again to December 14, 2024, before this latest extension.

“#UIDAl extends free online document upload facility till 14th June 2025; to benefit millions of Aadhaar Number Holders. This free service is available only on #myAadhaar portal. UIDAl has been encouraging people to keep documents updated in their #Aadhaar,” said in a tweet.

Steps to update Aadhaar details online

  1. Visit the UIDAI Self-Service Portal: Go to the official UIDAI website.
  2. Log In: Enter your Aadhaar number, Captcha code, and the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  3. Navigate to Document Update: Go to the ‘Document Update’ section and verify your existing details.
  4. Upload Documents: Select the appropriate document type from the drop-down menu and upload scanned copies of your supporting documents for verification.
  5. Note the Service Request Number: Make sure to save the service request number for tracking the status of your Aadhaar update.

Offline updates for biometric changes

For updates related to biometric information such as fingerprints, iris scans, or photographs, you’ll need to visit an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Sewa Kendra. Here’s how to proceed:

  1. Download the Update Form: Access the form from the UIDAI website.
  2. Submit the Form: Complete the form with the necessary documents and submit it at the nearest centre.

  4. Receive Acknowledgment: You’ll be given a slip with your URN (Update Request Number) to track the status of your update.
