PhonePe has announced new medical coverage for vector-borne and air-borne diseases like dengue and malaria on its platform. The UPI-based payment platform is offering medical insurance for these diseases starting at just Rs 59 per year.

PhonePe’s medical insurance coverage details
Currently, PhonePe is offering coverage as part of the medical insurance of up to Rs 1 lakh. This is applicable to more than 10 diseases including dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and typhoid.
The insurance policy mainly targets Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in order to provide them with affordable healthcare protection in case they get affected by such diseases.
It is also important to note that this is an annual medical protection plan and provides coverage throughout the year.
That’s not it. This is a comprehensive coverage plan that includes almost everything including hospitalisation, diagnostic expenses, and ICU charges throughout the treatment process.

Purchasing the new medical coverage via PhonePe
The platform has updated the app with this new medical insurance plan. Users can use the PhonePe app to purchase, manage and make claims for the insurance. Also, this will be a 100% digital process with no to least amount of paperwork required.
Vishal Gupta, CEO of PhonePe Insurance Broking Services, emphasized the company’s commitment to making insurance accessible. “We aim to empower users to manage health risks effectively while eliminating financial barriers to quality care,” Gupta stated.
How to buy medical insurance on PhonePe
To buy medical insurance using PhonePe, users will need an active PhonePe account. All they have to do is navigate to the “Insurance” section within the app. Choose “Dengue & Malaria plan”. Enter the necessary details review the terms and conditions and make the payment right from the app to buy it.
