In infrastructure developments, the Cabinet approved converting the four-lane road leading to Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport into a six-lane highway.
The Assam Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, approved several key initiatives on Wednesday aimed at enhancing infrastructure and education in the state. One significant decision involves banning the serving and consumption of beef in restaurants, hotels, and public places across Assam. According to Sarma, this move builds on the success of the Assam Cattle Preservation Act of 2021, which has effectively regulated cattle slaughter.
In infrastructure developments, the Cabinet approved converting the four-lane road leading to Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport into a six-lane highway. An additional Rs 116 crore has been allocated for this purpose, bringing the total project cost to Rs 474 crore.
The Cabinet also introduced a new literary award in honor of noted litterateur Dr. Homen Borgohain. The award will include a one-time assistance of Rs 50,000 for government pensioners, and a monthly literary pension will be provided to eligible individuals, excluding government employees.
