Jeevan Pramaan or life certificate submission deadline missed? Pensioners should do this now or pension will stop

Have you missed the deadline to submit your life certificate by November 30, 2024? It is important to submit a life certificate on time for uninterrupted pension payments. You can submit it now as a lot of authorities allow late submissions. All central government and state pensioners must submit an annual life certificate or Jeevan Praman to approve pension disbursing agencies, such as banks, every year in November to continue receiving their pension.

What happens if you don’t submit a life certificate by November 30, 2024?

According to the UIDAI FAQs on life certificate, “Payment of pension for the month of December and onwards will not be done to the pensioner.”

Can you submit a life certificate after November 30, 2024?

It is still possible to submit the life certificate after the deadline has passed. Pensioners can submit their life certificate both via online and offline modes. They can visit a bank, post office, or Common Service Center (CSC) and submit their life certificate. For online submission, pensioners can use the Jeevan Pramaan app or portal to generate a Digital Life Certificate. They can make use of the doorstep banking facility to submit a life certificate.

What happens if pension is stopped?

Once you submit your life certificate, pension will be paid along with arrears immediately on the next pension payment.

How to submit a Digital Life Certificate using face authentication

Here are 6 simple steps to submit Digital Life Certificate using face authentication

Step1: Use any Android smartphone with 5MP front camera and internet

Step 2: Keep Aadhaar number registered with pension disbursing authority (bank, post office, other) ready.

Step 3: Download and install ‘AadhaarFaceRD’ and’ Jeevan Pramaan Face App’ from the Google Store.

Step 4: Carry out operator authentication and scan the operator’s face.

Step 5: Fill in pensioner details.

Step 6: Submit after capturing a photograph from the front camera.

An SMS with a link to download Jeevan Pramaan will be sent to the pensioner’s mobile number.

What is Jeevan Pramaan?

Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric-enabled Aadhaar-based Digital Life Certificate for pensioners and is generated for individual pensioners using his/her Aadhaar number and biometrics.

Is it mandatory to submit an online life certificate through Jeevan Pramaan?

No. Jeevan Pramaan is in addition to other existing facilities for submission of a life certificate in physical form.

When will pension for November and onwards get paid if a life certificate is submitted in a subsequent month?

According to the UIDAI FAQs on life certificate, “Once the life certificate is updated in the pension system, pensions will be paid along with arrears immediately on the next pension payment. However, in case a life certificate is not submitted for a period of three years and above, pension will be commenced after sanction of the competent authority through the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO) as per due process.”
