In a major initiative aimed at benefiting the public, passengers at bus stations in Uttar Pradesh will now be able to view the status of their buses on LED screens. Additionally, people at home will also have the ability to track the real-time location of buses. Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh on Saturday launched the Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTSD) and the Sugam app at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.
A panic button service has also been introduced in buses for the safety of female passengers. In case of an emergency, when a woman presses the button, the police will be alerted and the incident will be reported at the transport headquarters.
Transport corporation officials and employees who voluntarily open their salary accounts at the Indian Bank will be provided with an accident insurance cover of one crore rupees by the bank. An MoU between the Transport Corporation and the Indian Bank was also signed in the presence of the Minister.
The Minister mentioned that transport services are challenging, and this MoU will prove beneficial for the employees and officials. He added that no one wishes for a family member to face untimely death, but in such cases, the family should not fall into financial distress, and Indian Bank has tried to instil confidence in this regard.
In case of an accident, the family of the deceased will be provided with an insurance cover of one crore rupees. In addition, the bank is also offering a term life policy. The Minister further stated that the bank is providing up to 10 lakh rupees to help with the marriage of the deceased’s daughter and another 10 lakh rupees for the education of the deceased’s children.
He mentioned that the state government aims to provide modern services to the people. He also handed a cheque of 1800 rupees for the uniform, stating that when drivers and conductors operate buses in uniform, it enhances the corporation’s image.
