Sachin Tendulkar scored six Test centuries in 20 matches played on Australian soil, whereas Kohli has seven centuries to his name now in 14 matches.
Batting superstar Virat Kohli created history on Sunday (November 24) by breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most Test 100s by an Indian batter in Australia. Kohli completed his 30th Test century during the third session of the third day’s play of the ongoing first Test of 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Optus Stadium in Perth.
Sachin scored six Test centuries in Australia during his playing days, whereas Kohli now has seven Test centuries to his name in 14 matches.

The 100-run knock on Sunday has also helped Kohli overtake Rahul Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara in the list of batters with most runs in India-Australia Tests.

Kohli completed his century with a boundary on the third ball of the 135th over of India’s second innings, which was bowled by Marnus Labuschagne.
During his stay at the crease in the second inning, Kohli faced a total of 143 balls and hammered 8 fours and 2 sixes. He added unbeaten 77 runs for the seventh wicket with debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy (38 runs from 27 balls). After Kohli completed his century, India declared its innings at 487 for 6 in 134.3 overs and set a target of 534 runs for Australia to chase down in the fourth innings of the match.

Back-to-back 100s in Perth
The ton on Sunday is Kohli’s second Test century in as many matches played so far at Optus Stadium in Perth. During the last India-Australia Test played at this venue in December 2018, Kohli had scored 123 runs. A total of five Indian batters have scored a Test century in Perth, but only Kohli has achieved the feat twice.
Kohli’s last Test century before this one was against the West Indies during the second Test of the two-match series played in Port of Spain from July 20-24, 2024.
