Early Days:

Born on November 22, 1990, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, to doctor parents who wanted him to pursue medicine, Karthik defied their wishes and chose acting instead, giving up his engineering studies to follow his passion. He celebrates his 34th birthday today.

Initially, he struggled in Mumbai, even cooking for 12 aspiring actors to make ends meet. His breakthrough came during his third year of college when he got his first major role in Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011) after a Facebook post led him to an audition. Despite repeated failures and rejections early on, he eventually landed the role, earning Rs 1.25 lakh for his debut film.

Post Debut:

Karthik’s performance in Pyaar Ka Punchnama, particularly his memorable four-minute monologue, earned him recognition. His monologue in Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015) was even longer, at seven minutes, making him the first actor in India to deliver such a lengthy dialogue. His hard work and perseverance paid off, with his 2018 film Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety cementing his status as a comedy lead actor.

Over 12 years, Karthik has acted in 16 films, including critically acclaimed hits like Dhamaka and Freddie, which were released on OTT platforms. He has earned a reputation for his speed in shooting, with Dhamaka completed in just 10 days. Today, Karthik commands a fee of Rs 35 to 40 crores per film.

In addition to his acting career, he also earns a significant income from brand endorsements, charging Rs 15 lakh per ad compared to the Rs 1500 he earned for his first one.

Karthik’s personal life has also attracted attention, with rumours of a romance with his Love Aaj Kal 2 co-star Sara Ali Khan. Both have remained coy about their relationship. Currently, Karthik is in the spotlight for his role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee.
