ICC T20I Rankings: Hardik Pandya back on top, Tilak Varma soars 69 places to third position

In the bowling department, Australian spinners Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis have seen significant rises in the T20I bowler rankings.

Cricketer Hardik Pandya has reclaimed the top spot among T20I all-rounders, while his teammate, Tilak Varma, has made an incredible leap of 69 places to reach third in the latest ICC men’s player rankings.

Pandya’s return to the No. 1 ranking comes after a series of impressive performances during India’s recent tour of South Africa. The all-rounder once again claimed the top slot, going past England’s Liam Livingstone and Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee with this aggregate score of 31 years. The contributions from both bat and ball helped India emerge victorious in the Proteas 3-1 series. Interestingly, Pandya’s 39 not out during the second game steadied India’s innings whereas his excellent bowling spell of 1/8 from three overs during the fourth match dealt with the task of clinching the series for the team. It is the second time Pandya tops the T20I all-rounder rankings, having initially reached No. 1 after this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Tilak Varma’s rise in the rankings is equally remarkable. The young batter has surged 69 places to land at No. 3, thanks to his brilliant performances in the series against South Africa, where he scored two centuries and accumulated 280 runs. His remarkable form has catapulted him ahead of India’s skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, who drops one place to fourth. Varma’s rise now makes him the highest-ranked Indian batter in T20Is, just behind top-ranked Travis Head of Australia and England’s Phil Salt.

India’s Sanju Samson also had an outstanding series, scoring two centuries. As a result, he climbed 17 spots to 22nd in the T20I batting rankings.
