IMD Weather Update: Light to moderate rainfall is expected over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe on November 17.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather forecast informed that the minimum temperatures are expected to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius over most parts of northwest, central, east, and west India in the coming five days. According to IMD, dense to very dense fog conditions are likely to persist in the early morning hours tomorrow in Punjab, Haryana, northwest Rajasthan, and Bihar.
The Met Office also highlighted that light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning, is expected over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe on November 17. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall is predicted over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Kerala. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also likely to experience light to moderate rainfall at many places throughout the week.

IMD predicts dense fog conditions
Dense to very dense fog conditions are forecast during the night and early morning hours in some pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and West Rajasthan tomorrow morning, and in Bihar until the 18th morning. Foggy conditions are also expected in isolated areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Meghalaya between the 17th and 19th of November.
Similar conditions may occur in Bihar on the morning of the 19th, Himachal Pradesh between the 19th and 21st, and in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, and West Rajasthan on the morning of the 18th.

Delhi records lowest temperature of season so far
Delhi recorded its lowest minimum temperature of the season on Saturday at 15.3 degrees Celsius, according to IMD. The drop in nighttime temperatures brought foggy conditions to the capital, accompanied by chilly winds during the morning and evening hours. The maximum temperature reached 29.6 degrees Celsius, slightly above the seasonal average by 1.1 degrees.
The IMD has predicted smog and dense fog for Sunday, with temperatures expected to range between a maximum of 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 15 degrees Celsius.

Higher reaches of Himachal feel the chill as mercury dips
The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh experienced wintry conditions as minimum temperatures dropped further, the weather department reported on Saturday. Tabo in Lahaul-Spiti recorded the lowest temperature in the region at minus 7.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Kukumseri at minus 2.8 degrees and Sumdo at minus 0.4 degrees.
The Meteorological Department in Shimla issued a warning of thick morning fog in the Bhakra Dam reservoir area and the Balh Valley in Mandi district from November 18 to 20. The forecast also suggests a dry spell in the lower and mid-hills for the next six days, up to November 22, with light snowfall expected at isolated locations in the higher reaches of the state on the same day.
Gulmarg receives season’s first snowfall
Kashmir’s popular skiing destination Gulmarg received its first snowfall of the season on Saturday, with about an inch of snow blanketing the meadows. Higher-altitude areas such as Gurez, Machil, Mughal Road, and others also experienced fresh snowfall. Meanwhile, rain lashed the plains, including Srinagar.
The weather is expected to improve by Saturday afternoon, and the Meteorological Department predicts generally dry conditions from November 17 to 23. Light rain or snow is anticipated at isolated spots in the higher reaches on November 24.
