He added 107 runs for the second wicket with Abhishek Sharma (50 runs from 25 balls) and 58 runs with Rinku Singh (8 runs from 13 balls) for the fifth wicket to help India post a total of 219 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. For his super show with the bat in the match, which Men in Blue won by 11 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the ongoing four-match series, Tilak won the Player of the Match award.

- Tilak became the 12th Indian batter after Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, and Sanju Samson to score a century in T20Is.
- Tilak is the second youngest batter after Yashasvi to score a century in T20Is for India. Jaiswal was 21 years and 279 days old when he scored 100 runs from 49 balls against Nepal in Hangzhou on October 3, 2023, whereas Tilak was 22 years and 5 days old at the time of scoring his first T20I century.
- By remaining not out on 107 runs on Wednesday, Tilak equalled the record for the highest individual score by an Indian batter in a T20I match against South Africa. During the first T20I of the ongoing four-match series, Sanju Samson also scored 107 runs. Samson and Tilak also sit at the joint No. 1 position in the list of batters with most runs in a T20I match played between India and South Africa.
- Tilak is the fifth Indian batter after Raina, Rohit, Suryakumar, and Samson to score a century in T20Is against South Africa. He is also the third Indian after Surya (Johannesburg, 2023) and Samson (Durban, 2024) to score a T20I century in South Africa.
- Tilak is the fourth Indian after Rohit (121 vs Afghanistan), Abhishek (100 vs Zimbabwe), and Samson (111 vs Bangladesh, 107 vs South Africa) to score a T20I century in 2024.
