Global Passport Power Rank 2024 ranked the passports around the globe by their total mobility score, reflecting not just the travel freedom afforded to citizens but also broader geopolitical dynamics and international relations.

Countries with stronger passports often have better diplomatic connections, making international travel easier for their citizens, while countries with weaker passports face challenges that limit their citizens’ options for travel and global engagement.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has achieved the title of “World’s Most Powerful Passport” in 2024.

The Emirati passport, which ranked 14th in 2019 due to COVID-19 border closures, has made significant progress in passport mobility, including hosting Expo 2020 Dubai, which improved its passport power through visa-free agreements.

Having a mobility score of 179 enables Emirati passport holders to travel to 133 countries without a visa, gain visa-on-arrival access to 46 countries, and require a visa for 19 countries.

On the contrary, Syria has been ranked as the weakest passport in 2024, with a mobility score of 39; allowing Syrian passport holders to access only 9 countries without a visa, while they can obtain visas on arrival in 30 countries. Unfortunately, 159 countries require a visa for entry.

Global Passport Power Rank 2024: Top 10 most powerful passports in the world

The global average mobility score is 112, the median mobility score is 101, the average rank is 47, and the population is 7,900,603,150.

It’s noteworthy to mention, that the Kosovo passport has significantly improved its global standing, achieving a mobility score increase of +35.

According to the Passport Index 2024, it now ranks 57th worldwide with a mobility score of 92, granting holders visa-free entry to 52 countries, 40 countries with visa-on-arrival, and requiring visas for 106 countries.

India’s passport is ranked 72nd, with a mobility score of 73. It allows entry to 29 countries without a visa, 44 countries with a visa-on-arrival, and requires a visa for 125 countries.
