IMD Weather Forecast: Heavy rainfall batters Chennai; IMD predicts showers in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra and THESE states

India Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall for several districts in Tamil Nadu this week due to a weather system over the Bay of Bengal. A yellow alert has been issued for Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and other areas across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema, effective November 12.

A low-pressure area is expected to develop over the southwest Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours, which will likely bring isolated heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu from November 11-17, coastal Andhra Pradesh from November 12-14, and parts of Kerala from November 13-17. South Interior Karnataka may also see heavy rain on November 13-15.

Additionally, dense fog is predicted in parts of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh in the coming days, though minimum temperatures are expected to remain stable across northwest and central India for the next 4-5 days.

Delhi air quality ‘severe’ in several areas

Delhi saw a slight improvement in overall air quality on Tuesday morning, though several areas in the city remained in the ‘Severe’ pollution category with AQI levels above 400. As of 7 a.m., data from the Central Pollution Control Board recorded an AQI of 335 for the city. However, in some areas like Jahangirpuri, AQI levels soared to 418. Other locations with ‘Severe’ air quality included Anand Vihar and Rohini.
