The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that their commuters will be able to book bike taxis right from the DMRC’s app (Delhi Sarthi 2.0), removing the hassle of juggling between various apps. The feature offers the people the option to book two types of Bike taxis – SHERYDS (for women, by women) and RYDR (for all commuters).

Delhi Metro SHERYDS
This particular initiative has been designed for female metro travellers. This allows women to travel independently with convenience and safety. Besides this, it also put women drivers in a position where they can earn and “live with dignity and respect”, DMRC said in a release.

RYDR is dedicated to delivering a highly efficient and productive service tailored for Delhi metro passengers. Operating alongside SHERYDS, this bike taxi service emphasises optimising rider routes to achieve shorter, more efficient travel times. Unlike traditional models, where drivers may cover extensive distances, RYDR keeps riders within a designated radius, ensuring enhanced safety and minimized travel times.

Delhi Metro Bike taxi service: Metro stations
The DMRC’s bike taxi service currently available at 12 metro stations: Dwarka Sec-21, Dwarka Sec-10, Dwarka Sec-14, Dwarka Mor, Janakpuri West, Uttam Nagar East, Rajouri Garden, Subhash Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Karol Bagh, Millennium City Centre Gurugram, and Palam. This launch includes 50 SHERYDS and 150 RYDR bikes operating within a 3-5 km radius from these stations between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm.
Over the next month, the service will expand to cover more than 100 stations, with the remaining stations included in the following three months. This will enhance last-mile connectivity across all 250 DMRC metro stations, ultimately increasing the fleet to approximately 1,000 SHERYDS and 1,000 RYDR bikes.
