UPSC Geo-Scientist Preliminary Examination 2025 is scheduled to be held on February 9 next year.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has published the schedule for the Combined Geo-Scientist Preliminary Examination 2025. This examination is planned for February 9, 2025, and will be conducted in two sessions on the same day to enable candidates to write both objective papers as part of the selection process. The timetable is available for download for candidates who wish to appear for the examination through the official site of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.

The examination will follow a two-shift schedule on February 9:
First Shift: 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM — Paper I (General Studies)
Second Shift: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM — Paper II (Stream-specific subjects)
The preliminary examination consists of two objective-type papers with a total mark of 400. The type of paper that is common to all candidates is Paper 1 called General Studies, while Paper 2 is specialized based on specialities such as Geology, Geophysics or Chemistry.

Prospective examinees should know that there will be deducting points in this test. For every wrong response, a third of the marks given for that question will be cut off.
The Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2025 is one of the recruitment drives conducted to fill 85 positions in several scientific posts in the organization. Candidates who clear the prelims shall attend the Main Examination that will be conducted on June 21 and 22, 2025. The generally competitive process is thus intended to find the most qualified and suited candidate for key scientific jobs.

Step 1: Go through the UPSC website by typing www.upsc.gov.in
Step 2: Click the ‘examination’ tab in the toolbar.
Step 3: Search for and click on the link for the UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Prelims Exam 2025 schedule.
Step 4: A new window with the detailed schedule in PDF format will be created to which the candidates will have access to download and print out.
