Air India launched a new service, ‘Fly Prior,’ to offer enhanced flexibility for travellers on domestic routes. The innovative service allows passengers to opt for an earlier flight on the same day as their original booking, accommodating last-minute changes for travellers who need to reach their destination sooner.

What are the benefits?

With ‘Fly Prior,’ passengers can choose to depart up to 12 hours earlier than their originally scheduled flight, providing a convenient solution for those with unscheduled meetings, family obligations, or other time-sensitive needs. The option to switch to an earlier flight is subject to seat availability in the same cabin class as originally booked, ensuring that guests continue to enjoy the same service level.

Who can benefit from the ‘Fly Prior’ service?

The ‘Fly Prior’ service is available exclusively at Air India’s ticketing counters and check-in desks across airports in India. Frequent flyers with Gold and Platinum membership in Air India’s Flying Returns loyalty program can access ‘Fly Prior’ free of charge, while other passengers can utilise the service at a nominal fee. The pricing structure varies based on routes:

  • Rs 2,199 for flights between major metropolitan cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune.
  • Rs 1,499 for flights to or from other destinations within India.

Once confirmed, passengers who opt for ‘Fly Prior’ receive instant confirmation, and checked baggage is transferred seamlessly to the new flight. Other ancillary services, such as priority handling and excess baggage, will also be transferred, except for seat selection and special meal requests.
