Doorstep banking service to submit life certificate: Know the charges for availing DLC for pensioners of SBI, Canara Bank, PNB, Bank of India

The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has launched a Nationwide DLC Campaign 3.0 in November 2024 to streamline life certificate submission for pensioners through Face Authentication technology. This method allows pensioners to submit certificates via Aadhaar-based recognition on Android smart phones.

Pensioners had to visit Pension Disbursing Authorities in the past, which was difficult for senior citizens. Digital Life Certificates (Jeevan Pramaan) were first introduced by DoPPW in 2014, and Face Authentication technology followed in 2021.

Jeevan Pramaan, the Government of India’s Digital Life Certificate for Pensioners Scheme, aims to solve this exact issue by digitizing the entire life certificate application process. It attempts to make the procedure of obtaining this certificate more efficient, hassle-free, and much simpler for the elderly. This project will greatly benefit the pensioners and eliminate needless logistical obstacles by eliminating the need for them to physically appear before the certification authority or the disbursing agency.

However, senior citizens can avail doorstep banking services from their banks to submit life certificate.

To avail of this DLC service, one should register for doorstep banking fill out the life certificate form along with the necessary details, and submit it through doorstep banking.

Here are some top banks and their charges applicable for availing doorstep banking services for submitting life certificate.

  • Doorstep banking charges: SBI

According to the SBI website, submitting life certificate for senior citizens is free of cost along with few other services. However, in case senior citizens need more services, they may avail the same by paying the nominal prescribed fee of Rs.75 + GST (prevailing as on date, subject to changes from time to time).

  • Doorstep banking charges: PNB

According to the PNB website, “Submit Life Certificate for free through Doorstep Banking at DSB designated branches through PSB Alliance from 01.10.2024 to 31.12.2024 through PSB Alliance Call Centre – 9152220220 , DSB Mobile App (PSB Alliance) or Website (PSB Alliance).”

  • Doorstep banking charges: Canara Bank

According to the Canara bank social media post, “Good news for pensioners! Service charges for Doorstep Banking Life Certificate submissions are waived from 1st Nov to 31st Dec 2024. Enjoy a hassle-free experience at your doorstep!”

  • Doorstep banking charges: Bank of India

According to the Bank of India social media post on X, “Convenience at your doorstep! Bank of India now offers all our senior customers the hassle-free facility of doorstep life certificate issuance. Stay secure and save time. Free submission of Annual life certificate by senior citizen pensioners for period from November 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024.”

  • Doorstep banking charges: IPPB

Submission of life certificate is available for IPPB and non-IPPB customers. To avail DLC service, a customer can contact the nearest post office or place a request for a doorstep visit by the postman/Grameen Dak Sevak. Department of Posts have also enabled scheduling of doorstep request through the Post Info app or through the website “ http://ccc.cept.gov.in/covid/request.aspx ” For every successful generation of DLC, a nominal fee of Rs. 70 (inclusive of GST/ CESS) will be charged.

There will be no doorstep charges levied for IPPB or non-IPPB customers for issuance of DLC.
