Food delivery platform Zomato has increased its platform fee to Rs 10, up from Rs 7, as the festive season approaches. “This fee helps us pay our bills to keep Zomato running. To maintain services during festive season, it has increased slightly,” as per a report by Moneycontrol. The report has quoted notification on the app.

To recall, Zomato first introduced a Rs 2 platform fee in August 2023 to improve its margins. The company gradually raised it over time, including a temporary hike to ₹9 on December 31. The new Rs 1 increase could generate an additional Rs 65 crore annually, given Zomato’s FY2023 order volume of 64.7 crore.

Zomato had earlier received a goods and services tax (GST) demand and penalty order worth Rs 11.81 crore. The order consists of Rs 5.9 crore in GST demand and a penalty of Rs 5.9 crore for the July 2017-March 2021 period.
