Meanwhile, Bengaluru experienced a return of heavy rainfall on Monday evening after a brief break, with northern areas facing the worst of the downpour. Commuters dealt with waterlogged roads and severe traffic disruptions as residents shared their frustrations on social media. Reports indicated extremely heavy rain was expected to continue for the next few hours, prompting warnings to avoid travel due to possible flooding.
This weather shift came after a sunny afternoon, despite an orange alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The rain exacerbated issues with the city’s drainage system, leading to local authorities mobilising to clear clogged drains. Many residents expressed concern over the inadequate infrastructure as waterlogged streets stranded vehicles and hampered commuting for office and school-goers.
