Blast near CRPF school in Delhi’s Rohini; no casualties reported, probe underway

Amysterious explosion occurred on Sunday morning near a CRPF school in the Prashant Vihar area of Rohini, Delhi. However, no injuries were reported, as confirmed by Delhi Fire Services officials.

Emergency responders, including fire engines, a bomb squad, and a police forensic team, were dispatched to the scene in Sector 14 to determine the cause of the loud blast. The explosion caused damage to the school wall, nearby shops, and a parked car.

Delhi Fire Services reported that they received a call about the blast at 7:50 am and sent two fire engines to investigate. They confirmed there was no fire and no injuries, allowing their units to return.

DFS officials at the site stated, “We received a call regarding a blast near the boundary wall of CRPF school at 7.50 am. We immediately rushed two fire engines to the spot. There was no fire and no one was injured due to the blast, so our vehicle returned.”

“Our forensic team and crime unit are at the spot to collect samples from the blast location. It could be a firecracker, but we are investigating the entire matter from all angles,” noted a senior police officer.

Senior police officers, including those from the crime branch and special cell, also arrived at the scene.

A senior police officer mentioned that forensic and crime teams were collecting samples on-site, noting that while the blast could be related to a firecracker, all possibilities are being investigated. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.

In their statement, police indicated they received a PCR call at 7:47 am about the explosion. They found the school wall damaged, a foul smell present, and windows of nearby shops and a parked car shattered, but again, no injuries were reported.

“SHO/PV and staff reached the spot, where the school wall was found damaged with a foul smell. The glasses of a nearby shop and a car parked near the shop were found to be damaged. No one was injured,” further noted the police.

The area has been cordoned off, and the investigation is ongoing, with the crime team, FSL team, and bomb disposal squad on-site.

“Crime team, FSL team, and bomb disposal squad are called to the spot. The crime spot has been cordoned. The fire brigade team is on the spot. The matter is being looked into on the cause of the blast,” added the police.
