Weather Today: IMD issues alerts for thunderstorms, high winds across THESE states

As October progresses, North India is experiencing fluctuating weather conditions with a mix of mild cold in the mornings and scorching sunlight during the day. Despite being well into the month, the days still feel reminiscent of a hot summer. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds in isolated parts of Telangana, with lightning likely in various other regions.

Thunderstorm and Lightning Alerts Across Southern India

The IMD forecast indicates that thunderstorms with wind speeds between 30-40 kmph are expected at isolated locations in Telangana. Additionally, isolated incidents of lightning are predicted in Odisha, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and parts of Karnataka.

Fishermen Advisory: High Winds Expected

The weather department has also issued warnings for coastal areas, with winds ranging between 35 to 55 kmph forecasted over Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, the south Gujarat coast, Lakshadweep, and the Arabian Sea regions. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into these waters due to hazardous conditions.

Regional Weather Updates

  • Haryana: The state is predicted to have temperatures ranging from 24.03°C to 37.25°C on October 19, 2024. Residents can expect a warm day with relatively mild conditions during the early hours.
  • Goa: In Goa, temperatures will fluctuate between 22.7°C and 30.01°C, with a forecast of rain and a humidity level of 68%. Rainy conditions may persist throughout the day.
  • Jammu and Kashmir: The region is expected to experience colder temperatures, with a minimum of 10.61°C and a maximum of -2.6°C, signaling frigid conditions. Residents and visitors should plan for cold weather and dress accordingly.

Five-Day Rain Forecast for South India

The IMD has predicted that parts of South Peninsular India could witness heavy rainfall over the next five days, especially in areas prone to thunderstorms and lightning.
