HDFC Bank Q2 Results: Net Profit Rises 5.3% to Rs 16,821 Crore

HDFC Bank Q2 Results: Net profit rises 5.28 per cent to Rs 16,820.97 crore, compared with Rs 15,976 crore a year ago.

HDFC Bank on Saturday reported a 5.28 per cent rise in its net profit to Rs 16,820.97 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, compared with Rs 15,976 crore a year ago. Its net interest income, which is the difference between interest earned and interest expended, grew 10 per cent to Rs 30,110 crore during July-September 2024, against Rs 27,390 crore in the year-ago period.

The bank’s standalore net revenue rose 9.2 per cent to Rs 41,600 crore during the September 2024 quarter, compared with Rs 38,090 crore in the year-ago quarter.

HDFC Bank’s gross non-performing assets (GNPAs) inched up to 1.36 per cent of gross advances as of September 30, 2024, from 1.33 per cent as of June 30, 2024, and 1.34 per cent as on September 30, 2023.

Its capital adequacy ratio (CAR) as per the Basel III norms stood at 19.8 per cent as of September 30, 2024, as against the regulatory requirement of 11.7 per cent. In the September 2023 quarter, the CAR had stood at 19.5 per cent.

Its tier-1 CAR and common equity tier-1 capital ratio stood at 17.3 per cent as of September 30, 2024, respectively. The bank’s risk-weighted assets were at Rs 24.81 lakh crore.

At the end of September 2024, HDFC Bank had a total of 9,092 branches, 20,993 ATMs in 4,088 cities and towns. Last year, September 30, 2023, the total number of branches and ATMs had stood at 7,945 and 20,596, respectively.

During the first half of FY25 (April-September 2024), HDFC Bank’s net profit jumped 18.1 per cent to Rs 33,000 crore.

On a consolidated basis, the bank’s net profit during Q2 FY25 rose to Rs 17,835.91 crore, a 6.03 per cent increase as compared with Rs 16,811.41 a year ago.

Shares of HDFC Bank on Saturday rose Rs 7.80 or 0.47 per cent to Rs 1,681.15 apiece on the BSE.
