How to check EPF balance
You can check your EPF balance easily through SMS, missed call, EPFO app, Umang app, and EPFO portal. Checking the balance is a must when you plan to withdraw PF amount, take a loan or check the interest credited to your account.

Methods to check balance:
- Missed Call: Give a missed call to mobile number 9966044425.
- SMS: Send SMS to mobile number 7738299899.
- EPFO Portal: Log in to the EPFO website.
- Umang App: Use the Umang app.
Checking EPF Balance with UAN Number:
If your Universal Account Number (UAN) is active, you can check EPF balance by following the following steps:
-Go to the EPF portal and click on ‘For Employees’ under ‘Services’.
-Click on the ‘Member Passbook’ option.
-Enter your UAN and password and sign in.
-An OTP will be sent to the phone number linked to your Aadhaar.
-Enter the OTP and click on ‘Verify’. Your EPF balance will appear on the screen.
Requirements for EPFO Portal
UAN must be active.
The passbook can be viewed only after six hours of registration on the EPFO portal.
The latest entries in the passbook will be displayed.
Exempted establishment members and private trusts cannot view the balance on the EPFO portal.

Check EPF balance using Umang app:
Employees can also check EPF balance by downloading the UMANG app on their phones. You need to register with your UAN to use the app.
Steps:
-Download the UMANG app.
-Log in to the app and click on the ‘Social Security’ option.
-Select ‘EPFO’ and click on ‘View Passbook’.
-Enter your UAN number and receive the OTP.
-Enter the OTP and click on ‘Submit’.
-Click on the company whose passbook you want to view.
-Check EPF Balance without UAN Number.
