Both Xiaomi and Qualcomm are marketing the Redmi A4 5G as a smartphone that is ‘designed with the Indian market in mind.’ The underlying Snapdragon 4s Gen 2, which was announced only recently, is actually the secret sauce behind making the phone a reality. In a release shared with the media, the duo has claimed that the Redmi A4 5G will accelerate India’s ‘transition to 5G technology, ensuring optimised power efficiency, faster connectivity, and an enhanced user experience.’
No further details have been shared at the time of writing though and so, we don’t know how big the screen is, how bright it gets, how big the battery is, or if there are any other niceties too. The exact timeline of availability and pricing details have been kept under the wraps as well for now. All we know for sure is that the Redmi A4 5G will launch soon for under Rs 10,000.

Xiaomi did showcase the product to media and other on-lookers at IMC giving us a good look at the design which is reminiscent of a few recent Redmi budget phones like the Redmi A3 and A3X with a distinct round camera assembly. One of the cameras—the main one—is 50-megapixel. There is a secondary camera as well, though we are not sure about the resolution or type yet. The phone is confirmed to get a headphone jack.
